After Tuma Basa, global programming head at Spotify, purchased and grew an admiration for USNY’s original “Manhattan Born” edition SnapBack, he immediately suggested implementing an “Africa Born” edition to represent his native homeland! In what was an absolute brilliant idea and suggestion “Africa Born” becomes the brand’s second international representation following it’s earlier released “Dominican Born” series.
The origin of the United Streets of New York brand derives from the high volume of diversity in which makes the city in itself extremely unique. Aside from the fact that history often reveals that a vast majority of Americans have ancestry that traces back to various parts of ‘Africa’, recent US census reports suggest that roughly 4% of New York City’s estimated 8.4 Million population consists of “Africa Born” descendants.
In its initial introduction USNY releases the “Africa Born” snapback in Black and Royal Blue with a solid Black and White logo. Please stay tuned for future releases and additional color ways as CEO and Designer Jason Romer anticipates various creative combinations of the new design.
